Amanda Bossard was just out her high school days when she started her studies in marine biology at Alaska PacificUniversity in Anchorage. Bossard began her career in the commercial seafood industry in 1999. That year, she worked in Murat Aritan's 65 foot halibut boat. It was later transformed into a fishing tender. Bossard has married Aritan. They've come together and have claimed the respective businesses. They are both in favor of conservative and profitable management of renewable seafood resources. Otolith is a direct wholesale seafood distributor that was started within Philadelphia in 2007 by a now-mother of two children, Bella age 3 and Andre age 1. Her husband has a long experience in the industry of fish and often they are separate for five months or longer. This is when they are focusing on their environmental and financial objectives. Bossard's children Isabella aged 12 and son Andre, age 10, come back each year to Southeast Alaska to work in the deckhand role throughout the salmon wild season. With a small 42 troller, the Bossards catch salmon using hooks. They work in conjunction with Aritan working in the local processing plant for a couple of weeks.
